Passage: Ezekiel 5:1-17

In another sign act prophecy of Ezekiel, he delivers a terrifying message of the mighty God’s face turning against his people. In the context of ancient covenant relationships, the people expected God to act against covenant breakers; it would be the just thing to do. Therefore, God withdraws his presence from his people and leaves them to their destructive sinfulness. However, in his profoundly deep love for his people, he pursues a way in which his presence could return to his people in its fullness, and this is achieved through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. In Jesus Christ, we have the opportunity to have closeness with God and to enjoy the covenant blessings of being in God’s favour.
