Passage: Ezekiel 12:1-28

In Ezekiel 12, God calls the prophet to take the stage once again and perform street theatre, dramatic sign-acts similar to what we see in chapter 4. These sign-acts conveyed Ezekiel's message in a powerful visual context.

The people of Judah who were taken into captivity had been torn from their homes and carried into exile, yet they still ignored God's warnings. Their hearts remained hard, unchanged, and rebellious. Despite this response, God continues, through Ezekiel, to sound the alarm to reach his people so that they understand and repent of their sin, rebellion, and broken covenant.

The theme running through this chapter is striking: eyes that refuse to see, ears that refuse to hear. Which raises a pressing question for us: Why are those in exile not seeing and listening? And an even deeper question: Why do we not see and listen to the stirrings or warnings of God in our lives?
