Next Steps

Everyone has a next step. What's yours?

We hope our church can be a place where you connect to others and find a home. Here at South Delta Baptist Church, we believe that God created us to be in community with one another and to grow deeper together in our walk as disciples of Jesus Christ. Jesus himself modelled living in community through his relationship with the disciples. They ate together, shared life together, and served together. We would love to connect with you and hear more of your story, and help find the best place for you to flourish.

We're so excited you're interested in learning more about who we are and joining our church family!

Baptism

In the bible, we see that the church baptized everyone who believed in Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord. There is not an example of a conversion in the early church that did not result in a baptism. We believe we are commanded to confess our faith in Jesus publicly through baptism (immersion in water), and we encourage every believer in Christ who has not received baptism to consider God's call on their lives to be baptized in the name of the Father, Spirit, and Son. If you have any questions about baptism, or if you would like to be baptized, please contact us.

Membership

Membership in a local church is important for healthy church governance and accountability. At South Delta Baptist Church, we believe that it is healthy to express our commitment to the local church through active participation in church life as a member. We, as members, can vote on important business of the church, affirm the call of pastors and elders that serve our church, and fulfill our duties as a charitable society in our province. By casting our votes, we recognize that we are carrying out our responsibility to care for the church and taking ownership of the direction of the church. For example, when we vote for elders and pastors, we are giving them permission to hold us accountable and empowering them to lead the church family in their respective positions. Similarly, we pledge our commitment to the Lord's work when we vote on the annual budget each year. Membership is exceptionally important in our church, and we encourage you to strive to be members in good standing at SDBC to partner with us for God's mission in our city and beyond.
