September has a way of bringing us back into familiar rhythms. Summer holidays begin to wind down, school starts again, calendars fill up, and many of us settle back into routines that will shape the months ahead.
Here at SDBC, this Sunday marks our Fall Launch and the beginning of a new season of ministry together. Programs and ministries are kicking back up, Community Groups are relaunching, and there are all kinds of opportunities to connect, serve, grow, and take another step in our relationship with God. As we head into this new season, I want to encourage you to think about where God might be inviting you to take a next step in your faith and in the life of our church community.
For some, that next step might be serving. There are opportunities throughout the church to invest in others, from Kids and Youth ministries to our Sunday morning teams and many other areas of church life. Serving is one of the ways we use the gifts God has given us, build relationships with others, and participate in what God is doing in and through SDBC.
But getting more deeply involved at SDBC isn't only about serving. Maybe your next step is joining a Community Group, participating in a bible study, getting connected with a ministry, or simply finding new ways to build meaningful relationships with others in our church family. Maybe you've been attending for a while but still feel like you're on the edges, and this fall is an opportunity to take a step toward deeper connection.
Whatever that next step looks like, my encouragement is simple: don't let this season pass by without considering where God might be inviting you to grow. One of the things we talk about often at SDBC is our desire to be a church marked by radical hospitality and meaningful connections. Those aren't just things we want to offer to others; they're something we each have an opportunity to participate in. As we gather together, serve, join a group, welcome someone new, pray for one another, and share life together, we help create the kind of faith community we believe God is calling us to be.
As we begin this new season, let's pray for our church, our ministries, our leaders and volunteers, and for every person God will bring through our doors! Pray that God would work in powerful ways, that people would come to know Jesus, and that we would all continue to grow deeper in our faith.
