Passage: Galatians 4:4-6, Matthew 2:23
Galatians 4:4-6 says that "When the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son." If we pause for a moment, perhaps we should take this in and appreciate the magnitude of what happened in the original Christmas account. God had come to us. When the fullness of time had come, God himself who is not bound by time had entered time. He had written himself into his story--our story--and gave us the opportunity to know him--the author of life. When Jesus came to us, hope had entered into our world. Jesus came to be the fulfillment of our hope! In this world of darkness, tables will be turned. Mourning will turn to joy; Jesus has come; sent by his Father... He is the King of kings and yet he lives among us; he is a Nazarene...? How could this be? The cosmic ruler and the divine sustainer of the universe clothed in flesh and one of us...? The great mighty God born in a manger? This great mystery; this epic story of his coming should be celebrated. All hail this King!
