Galatians 4:4 says, "But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman..." Why was Jesus the Christ born of a woman? Jesus represents humanity in the cosmic battle. As a fallen race, we need a Saviour to triumph over our enemy of sin and death, and Jesus is born to do just that. God wrote himself into his story by having Jesus be born of a virgin woman. Why did he have to be born of a woman? He needed to be fully man and fully divine in order to represent us and become the second Adam to defeat sin and death once and for all for all humanity for all time. The cosmic saviour born of a woman... This is our Prince of Peace. Jesus, our peace offering, has satisfied the debt that was owed in order for us to be redeemed and purchased out of our slavery to sin and into a newness of life in Christ. Praise Jesus, the Prince of Peace; born of a woman!
