In this message, we examine the tributary relationships in the Old Testament context and learn that our regular giving to God establishes and expresses the nature of our relationship with him. God is our suzerain covenant keeper who rescued us, provides for us, and protects us. We owe him our loyalty, faithfulness, and tribute—expressed through our voluntary and joyful giving. Our giving trains our hearts toward faith, trust, and allegiance.

From long ago, theologians referred to God in the paradoxical phrase of "the wholly other and infinitely near". This transcendent God, who is infinitely worthy of our gifts, chooses to descend to humanity, even to put on flesh and die on a cross so that he could be infinitely near to us. This is amazing grace! He is worthy of us giving our everything.
