Throughout Lent, we are sharing songs that teach us to cry out to God about the brokenness in our lives and to remember how Christ’s body was broken to heal our brokenness. This week’s Lent song is called “Christ is Mine Forevermore.” In each verse, the opening lyrics remind us of the sins and stains that are ours because of the ways that we have sought worldly treasure in place of being satisfied by Jesus. But then these sobering words give way to hope as we remember what else is ours–Christ’s love, his peace, and his protection. In spite of all of our sin, Christ is still ours and we are his beloved.
May God use this song and this season of Lent to remind us of what an incredible treasure we have in Christ that we might learn to let go of other treasures and be satisfied in him alone.
