Finding Willing Hearts within SDBC

08May, 2026

At the recent Spotlight on 1988 Table, something encouraging happened. People stopped, picked up a Skill Card, and said yes, not out of obligation, but because something in their hearts was stirred. We are officially beginning to build this team, and I am deeply grateful.

When I asked a few of our early volunteers why they said yes, here is what they shared:

"I was on the building committee years ago. My kids are older now, and I have more time to give. I want to help fix what needs fixing—and maybe even help us plan for the future."

"There are things to polish and improve, yes; but this is also about building community. That's why I'm in."

"South Delta is my church home and my family. Many hands make less work, and caring for God's house matters, no matter how small the contribution may seem."

These replies bring Exodus 36:2 to life: "...everyone whose heart stirred him up to come to do the work."

That is exactly what we are seeing. Electricians, carpenters, cleaners, designers, and faithful servants with willing hearts are stepping forward, each offering what God has already placed in their hands. No act of stewardship is too small when it is done for God's house.

This is not about filling slots. It is about recognizing that God has placed skills, experience, and willing hearts inside this church family.

Skill Cards are still available at the Welcome Table, or you can email me anytime by clicking the button below. There is no pressure. Only an open door for whenever the time is right.

Thank you to everyone who has already stepped forward. You are the foundation of what we are building.

Andrew first came to SDBC in June, 2024, and is now excited to serve as part of the church staff. He is actively involved in the life of the church through teaching and practical service in different ministries and community groups. He brings a background of leadership and organizational experience to support the needs of the SDBC facility. Outside of the church, he loves being with his three children, reading, cycling, and enjoying the outdoors of our beautiful city.
