We will be welcoming our missionaries Patrick and Shalyn O'Connor this Sunday during our service. Patrick and Shalyn recently moved down to Alamo, Texas, which entails regular visits to Reynosa and Matamoras in Mexico. Patrick provided a brief update for us below:
One aspect of ministry along the border is "Saturdays in Matamoros," with what the locals call a clandestine rehab for ex-cons. It is essentially a highly protected jail with strict rules for the 75 men and 35 women. I am not a preacher, per se, but I do come alive as I share my heart with these hardened men (& broken women) whom I have come to care for. I am praying, in faith, that I will see every one of them in the heavenlies, with you and me. Please pray for this.
Further, another aspect along the border is to come alongside Rio Grande Bible Institute (RGBI) students, which we have realized is a slow heart-to-heart time process. Please pray for this.
Malachi 4:2 (NIV) says: But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and leap like well-fed calves.
For Shalyn and me, we feel ourselves full of HIS joy and HIS Ephesians 2:10 design for our lives, along the border.
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV): "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Be sure to join us on Sunday to hear further updates about their ministry. You can also email Patrick by clicking the button below to get added to their mailing list, or visit with them at the Spotlight Table on Sunday after the service.
