We are excited to announce that our church's Thanksgiving offering this year will go towards the projects for our 2027 Mexico Missions Trip. As we shared this past Sunday, we have the opportunity to partner with several incredible ministries doing gospel work in Vicente Guerrero. These include Oasis, an after-school care ministry that helps to educate and support students of working families, Hope Village, a transitional housing centre for women fleeing abuse, and Welcome Home, a ministry that provides daycare and identifies families in need of support and housing in the community.
Last year, we were able to improve the facilities at one of the Oasis sites by building a new roof, wall, and shaded area, all of which has enabled them to run the program more safely and feasibly with a larger number of students. We were also able to renovate one of the units at Hope Village, lay the groundwork for a home being built for a family being supported by Welcome Home, and celebrate the local missionaries through a staff appreciation dinner event.
In the same way that having a well-functioning church building allows us to gather, worship, and encounter Jesus, the projects we do for these ministries are a blessing to the long-term missionaries, supporting the work they are doing and creating more opportunities for people to experience Jesus through them.
There is so much amazing work being done in Vicente Guerrero, not just to alleviate poverty but to empower people in their God-given gifts and abilities and support the everyday needs of individuals and families. Through this Thanksgiving offering, we, as a church family, have an opportunity to come alongside this work and participate in what God is doing both in the people of Vicente Guerrero and in us.
We have been speaking in our sermon series about the way God wants to shape radically generous hearts in us, and this Thanksgiving offering is an opportunity for us to put that generosity into practice as we join in what God is doing.
As a church family, our aim is to raise a total of $7500, which is half the expected cost of this year's projects. Between this and the funds raised by our partner church SouthRidge Fellowship, this will allow us to amply cover this year's project costs. Anything raised over and above that amount will be designated at the elders' discretion.
We hope that you will prayerfully consider how God might be calling you to give toward this initiative as a way of being involved in this year's missions trip. If you would like to give online, you can do so by clicking the button below and choosing Thanksgiving Offering in the CanadaHelps drop-down menu. You can also e-transfer to and indicate "Thanksgiving Offering" in the memo section, along with your name and full address. Green Thanksgiving offering envelopes will be available on Sunday mornings.
