Food on the Corner Society (FCS) has been dedicated to serving the hungry and those in need in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside for 43 years. Every Saturday morning at 222 Main Street, a dedicated team of volunteers serves soup, sandwiches, and sweets to anyone who comes to our table, as our mission is to assist any individual in need of food.
FCS has long-standing ties with SDBC as co-founder Hermann Glockl has been a longtime member of the church. God has consistently worked through the people of SDBC who have greatly supported this ministry with both resources and volunteers.
We are always looking for more individuals to serve in this ministry. Some volunteer opportunities are:
- Drivers: load supplies on Friday mornings or drive volunteers downtown on Saturday mornings;
- Logistics: assist at the storage facility and manage supplies; pick up and deliver supplies at various times;
- Food Preparation: make soup or sandwiches (100-150) for Saturday morning pickup (9:30AM - 10AM); and
- Line Servers: serve meals at 222 Main Street every Saturday from 11AM to 12:30PM.
If you are interested in supporting this ministry, please stop by the Spotlight Table on Sunday. We would love to talk with you.
