This is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent us his Son...
1 John 4:10
The wonderful season of Easter is upon us. In just one month, we will celebrate the greatest event in human history. The death and resurrection of Jesus is not merely a feel-good story or a distant headline from the past. It is a historical, recorded, eye-witnessed event that changed the world—and this good news is still changing the world today!
But why? Who, or what, is behind it all? If we believe in a sovereign Creator who planned this from the beginning, dare we ask why?
This year, as a church family, we want to focus our eyes on the great motive behind God's plan to redeem a broken humanity. God is love. And because God so LOVED the world, he gave us Jesus. Jesus is the full and perfect revelation of God's love.
Jesus' life—this is love.
Jesus' death on the cross—this is love.
Jesus conquering death and the grave—THIS is love.
God showed all creation the full extent of his love through the person of Jesus and his great sacrifice on the cross. Love was the motive. Glory is the result.
Jesus is love personified. Jesus is love defined.
This Easter, let us search the unfathomable depths of Christ's love. Let us remember the great sacrifice on Good Friday and celebrate life on Easter Sunday.
This Is Love.
