Camp Qwanoes 2023: Next Level

23Feb, 2023

This summer, we're going to help children and youth see that this world is NOT all that it appears to be. We're going to help them discover that there is something more to life, something unbelievable, and we're calling it the Next Level. And God doesn't want anyone to miss it!

But our world? It specializes in having people think that this is all there is, that life is about living for yourself, that there is no God. We all know what this leads to.

In the past five years, we've welcomed over 15,000 children and youth to Qwanoes and we've seen the impact of this kind of life. We've heard their stories up close and personal; stories of brokenness, confusion, loneliness…kids who feel lost, trying to hold on, and figure it all out.

And this is why SDBC has this camp! Camp is such an ideal place for kids to discover what life is REALLY all about…that there is WAY MORE to life than just the here and now. Last summer a counsellor shared, "One of my girls is from a very difficult home situation. Yesterday she said to me, 'Can you take me to your home so I don't have to go back to my home?' She has been having such a good week. Yesterday, she accepted Jesus! She said, 'I needed something in my life and now I see what it is!'"

Camp is a such special place; a place that helps people come up close to their creator in the midst of his creation. Campers discover life with Jesus, that he has a plan for them, and he gave his life for them.

And we do this together with YOU. SDBC is one of the owners of Camp Qwanoes and together we're seeking to love kids to life like no other! Last summer was amazing. With no more COVID restrictions we welcomed back 1600 more campers than in summer 2021! And God was at work each day in such powerful ways, with almost 600 campers making a first-time decision to follow Jesus! It was through God's provision that it was possible. We had to re-set the camp after two years of COVID and rebuild our staff team. It took every single person to make it possible.

There are so many ways you can be involved! We need people to help with the kitchen crew, dish crew, maintenance, and activity team, or to be cabin counsellors, nurses, doctors, drivers, and builders. You can come for a week or all summer. Consider joining our prayer team, help prepare the camp before the summer, or invite kids to come. For those who are starting grade 9 and up, you can join a leadership program. Bring your family to a family retreat, family work weekend, or come to our Open House on June 10th. Maybe you could help families who are not able to afford to send their child to camp by giving to our campership fund, or give to a special project fund.

This summer we're going to invite children and youth to dare to dream that this world is NOT all there is, that this world is NOT the way life is intended to be, and that there is a whole new world and life waiting for them right now. And the best news of all? It is NOT just a dream; we're going to invite them to step right in and live it for real!
