Building for God's Glory, Sowing for His Kingdom

20Feb, 2026

When God called Israel to build the tabernacle, he didn't request volunteers; he filled people with his Spirit for the work. It is said of Bezalel, "I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship" (Exodus 31:3).

Think about that: God equips the called. Whether our skill is landscaping, building, cleaning, or maybe you're an optician with a passion for crystal-clear windows, or an expert in figuring out IKEA instructions! God has placed something in our hands for his purposes.

Moses later worked with "everyone whose heart stirred him up to come to do the work" (Exodus 36:2). God delights in willing hearts and skilled hands.

Four decades ago, faithful volunteers, alongside the contractors, built this beautiful 55,000-square-foot facility at 1988 56th Avenue. Today, we're asking: How can you serve within SDBC?

We want to build up a team of experts as willing servers to help us when projects are needed to be done. We're inviting your skills and time to preserve this space for the future. If your heart is stirred to serve, please let me know. Together, we'll ensure this building remains worthy of the Lord's work inside and outside at SDBC. Ready to serve? Andrew first came to SDBC in June, 2024, and is now excited to serve as part of the church staff. He is actively involved in the life of the church through teaching and practical service in different ministries and community groups. He brings a background of leadership and organizational experience to support the needs of the SDBC facility. Outside of the church, he loves being with his three children, reading, cycling, and enjoying the outdoors of our beautiful city.
