Building Faith

22Aug, 2024

I've always believed that God existed, but I've always struggled to follow him and actually learn from the bible. After walking in the secular world for so long and seeing all the misconceptions about Christians, I believe God has shown me all of this to push me towards being a bastion of Christian representation to steer people away from the stereotypes and misconceptions of Christians.

This desire to show others what being a Christian truly is, is what led me to taking the internship. And I'm glad I did. This internship was a unique and worthwhile experience. I learned to rely on and pray more to God. I've also been reading the bible and doing research to help me understand it better. Both have helped me immensely in my understanding and practice of being a Christian. Working with Jacob and the youth has been an amazing time, and it has given me a vision of what I want to fight for, with the Radical Hospitality I keep hearing so much about here at SDBC being a huge part of that. I know I have grown as a person and in my Christian faith because of taking this internship. My hope, as I wrap up this internship this week, is that I would continue to read the bible on my own so I can continue to deepen my understanding of my faith in God and what it means for me to be a Christian.
