Passage: Nehemiah 1:4-11
Our act of prayer is a significant theological claim. We are putting into action our belief in a God who desires to listen to us attentively when we cry out to him, and we are showcasing to the world that we serve a God who is ready to forgive sins when we repent. Thus, we are showing the world who God is when we pray.
We don't have a God who is constantly monitoring us so that he can punish us when he catches us in sin. Rather, we have a God who is reaching out to us in love and calling us to turn back to him because he desires a healthy relationship with us; because he does not want sin to separate us from him.
This is why we can start everything with prayer; because we have a God who wants to listen and redeem us. We can build our lives upon the foundation of prayer to the God of heaven who listens to us; who loves us so much that he pays attention to our whispers. Prayer is not an excuse for inaction; it is a prerequisite for taking action. Are you praying to the God of heaven today?
