Songs for Lent: Though You Slay Me (Shane & Shane)

25Mar, 2026

Throughout Lent, we’ve been sharing songs that remind us of God’s kindness to us in our sin and suffering. And as we are now getting closer to Easter, we prepare to remember Christ’s suffering, and how our own suffering is actually a way that we can know him in his. This week’s Lent song, “Though You Slay Me,” helps us to sing out that reality. This song also features a short sermon snippet from Pastor John Piper that crystallizes the message of this song – that while it might feel like God is opposing us when we suffer, he is actually working through it to bring us closer to Jesus and make us more like him. May these words allow you to connect your own suffering to his, enabling you to see Jesus more clearly and to worship him.
