SDBC family, we have some super exciting news: an outdoor service is being planned for Sunday, May 9th at 11AM! It's a special day for a couple of reasons. First, it's Mother's Day. Moms are a cherished gift from God and are so worth celebrating. Second, we are also going to try something completely new. As you know, we have worked incredibly hard during this pandemic to continue to worship and gather together online. We have much to be thankful for through all of this. As the weather turns brighter and warmer, and as health guidelines allow, we want to have opportunities to gather in person in a safe and responsible way. On this special Sunday, if weather permits, we are going to have church DRIVE-IN style! Yes, it's true. Perhaps you've never thought of your car or truck being a vehicle of praise, but on May 9th it can be!! Load up the fam, grab a coffee, and come to church on that day in your whip!
The great thing is, on that day we can actually host an in-person worship service with two distinct groups. We will have seating in the parking lot south of the gym for up to 50 people, including all volunteers and staff. Pre-registration is required and can be accessed through Eventbrite, as with our previous in-person services. We will follow specific guidelines for this group (such as maintaining social distancing, wearing your mask, refraining from singing) as per the current Provincial Health Order.
In addition to the 50 seated in the parking lot, we can have up to 50 cars parked behind, full of families worshipping Jesus. You will be able to open your windows, give a warm smile to the cars next to you, and sing along to the music playing outside. You can also keep those windows closed and tune in to a specified station on the radio and sing along that way. This is new territory for us as a church, but we are trying safe and creative ways to gather, see one another, and worship Jesus together.
Of course, we will still be live-streaming our gathering into your homes at 11AM. If you are unable to make it in person, you can absolutely still join online. We are one family united in Christ!
All the necessary information is posted on our website. If the weather does not cooperate and we need to change things up before Sunday, we will send an email from Eventbrite to all those registered and will postpone this opportunity for another time. We are looking forward to gathering together under the canopy of God's creation, and giving him glory for all that he has done.
