Greetings SDBC and thank you for your partnership in our ministry. Three years ago, we left Outreach Canada and SDBC so I could accept a new position as Director for Global Collaboration for the OC Global Alliance. Outreach Canada is one of our 14 partnering mobilization centres around the world. We currently have more than 1,100 workers serving in 111 countries. Our Alliance can truly be described as "from everywhere to everywhere." In my role as an international leader, I meet with our people, hear their stories, and provide support and care so they can continue to be strong, healthy, and effective. Together, we are multiplying impact.
Mission work has become more challenging in recent years. It is harder to access many parts of the world, and traditional models have created barriers for our international partners. We have been adapting and pivoting so we can continue reaching the ends of the earth.
Five years ago, Joel and his team operated a bible school in Ukraine and trained pastors to work in neighbouring countries. War changed their focus. Now they support local pastors, distribute humanitarian aid, and meet with foreign soldiers who have come from around the world to support Ukraine. Right now, a small team is meeting with Spanish-speaking soldiers from Chile and handing out New Testaments.
I was in Brazil in May and was humbled by reports of workers serving as tentmakers, like the Apostle Paul. They go where God calls them, then find work to support themselves and their ministry. They have 77 workers serving across their own country and another 58 serving cross-culturally in 16 different countries.
We have been working in Mongolia since 2010. We began with research and are now helping train local believers to become disciple makers. With this training, they are exploring opportunities to multiply across their nation and beyond.
One woman who took our training went to visit her daughter in Australia for a month. While she was there, she met other Mongolians and started a Discovery Bible Study with them. By the time she went home, she had started a small Mongolian house church in Australia.
Using a similar strategy in another Southeast Asian country, we have seen incredible growth as the gospel spreads from family to family, island to island, and country to country. There are 140 unreached people groups (UPGs) in this region, and currently, we have house churches meeting among all but seven of them.
This is a challenging time for mission work, but it is also an exciting time. Some are adapting to rapidly changing circumstances, like Joel in Ukraine. Others are finding creative ways to step out in faith, like our Brazilian partners. Still others are engaging with diaspora communities and making disciples, as we see in Mongolia and Asia. God is on the move, and we are moving with Him.
Thank you for your partnership with us. With your help, we have been able to equip more leaders to multiply churches and make disciples of all nations.
"Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." - Matthew 9:38
Would you prayerfully consider how God may be inviting you to play a part in this work? Please continue to pray for our workers and partners, support the ministry as you are able, and ask God to raise up more people from everywhere to reach everywhere with the hope of the gospel.
