Putting Feet to Romans 10:14-15
This month, your Global Missions Team (GMT) would like to introduce you to the Fellowship's international relief and outreach program called FAIR (Fellowship Aid and International Relief). Here at SDBC we contribute toward this very impactful Canadian effort to make a difference throughout the world with the Gospel of Christ through works of mercy.
FAIR is located in and working with local churches in 23 different countries, providing food, shelter, programs, and financial support to make Christ come ALIVE in areas of our world that are suffering and lacking HOPE. There are many different ministries that FAIR is involved in, including a child abandonment ministry in Honduras, relief work for displaced war victims in the Ukraine, assistance for flood victims in Indonesia, and leadership and rescue efforts for earthquake-torn Nepal.
What is a project?
A FAIR project is defined as a humanitarian aid or social initiative designed to meet a need for a specific period of time with a clear end-date (e.g. a project ending in August of 2028). A project typically involves one country or region and is led by a Fellowship International missionary, team, or partner. Depending on the size, complexity, and perceived duration of the needs, projects can be extended and renewed, closed, or upgraded to a ministry.
What is a ministry?
A FAIR ministry is defined as a humanitarian aid or social initiative designed to meet a long-term need with no set end date. A ministry is typically led by a Fellowship International missionary and may include various projects. Ministries are reviewed regularly and include ministry plans that are between two and five years in length depending on the size and scope of the ministry. A group of similar projects and ministries can be combined into a program if that collaboration is deemed helpful.
What is a program?
A FAIR program is defined as a group of projects and ministries that share a common theme of humanitarian aid or social initiatives, each with the purpose of bringing Gospel hope to people in need. FAIR currently has six programs: disaster relief, medical, child sponsorship, community development, justice, and refugee care.
FAIR is an organization that is based on Canadian governance, giving us confidence in it's process and allowing a maximum impact for all donations.
We are excited to announce that you will be able to meet our FAIR National Director, Norton Lages, and our Church Relations Director, Andrew Beckman, on Sunday, February 8th, here at South Delta Baptist Church, as they will be here for a FAIR focus weekend.
Your FAIR is taking Christ to the nations. Mark your calendars and come and meet our national directors on February 8th.
Have a wonderful Christmas!
