"The world was blind, the boughs were bent,
All ways and paths were wild:
Then the veil of cloud apart was rent,
And here was born a Child."
- JR Tolkien
Christmas Eve is almost upon us. We are so excited to celebrate as a church the culmination of our Advent season. If you have been tracking thus far, you'll know that we are on a Journey to Christmas. That is our Christmas theme this year at SDBC. Like many of those ancient travellers who were filled with hope and anticipation of a coming Messiah and King, we too have been encouraged during the season of advent to take steps closer to the one they called Emmanuel, God with us. When we encounter Jesus, the one who journeyed from heaven to earth, we understand more and more the real Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love he has brought into this world.
On Christmas Eve, let's travel together to witness the incarnation. Let's be reminded of a God who loves us and came to dwell among us. So hop aboard! The train is ready! Let's invite our families and our friends on this journey with us.
We will be having two Christmas Eve Candlelight worship services at 3PM and 5PM. Click the button below to check out our Christmas page on our website for more details. At the heart of all this, we will celebrate Jesus, the Light that has come into darkness. We will make space in our hearts to be in awe and wonder of this miracle child. We will sing carols together and hear the wonderful story of Christmas.
See you there & Merry Christmas!
