On August 28th, Wayne, Trevor, Landon, and Dylan represented SDBC in a croquet tournament in Harris Barn and Gardens, which was a fundraiser for the Delta Community Foundation, raising funds for charities in Delta contributing to food security programs for children and seniors, mental health supports, emergency shelters, and many more services.
The Delta Community Foundation has financially supported our Starfish Pack and SDBC Tutoring programs and continues to be a community partner in our endeavour to serve our city. We are thankful to have participated in this fundraising event.
As our vision to Love Like Jesus is achieved through Radical Hospitality & Meaningful Connections, we intentionally participate in the events of our community to build stronger connections. Through our participation, we hope to demonstrate God's call on us to pray for the welfare of the city in which we reside (Jer. 29:7), and to "do good to everyone" as we have opportunity (Gal. 6:10).
It also doesn't hurt that our team won the tournament and brought home a trophy! Perhaps we should budget for a trophy cabinet if we're going to keep bringing home hardware like this! Thank you, team, for representing us well in our community!
