Every Tuesday from 7-8:30PM, more than 30 preteens (Grades 5-7) gather in our church building for Gap Jr. to play, laugh, ask big questions, and explore the life that Jesus offers. Many of these students come with little or no church background, yet they keep showing up with curiosity, honesty, and a growing desire to know God and his story.
Because of what we're seeing God do, we're excited to launch the Alpha Youth Series at Gap Jr. beginning February 3rd. As we prepare, there are two simple but important ways we're inviting our church family to be part of this season.
1. Invite preteens and families you know
Alpha is built around invitation. While you may not be a preteen yourself, chances are you know families who are raising them. We're asking you to prayerfully consider inviting preteens in your life—your own kids, neighbours, friends, or families you know—to come experience Alpha at Gap Jr.
Alpha is best experienced with a friend, but even more than that, it's powerful when a familiar adult is present. Your presence and consistency could be the reason a student feels safe enough to walk through the door and keep coming back, which brings us to the second way we invite you to get involved.
2. Consider joining the Gap Jr. leadership team
Alpha is all about open, honest conversation around the table about life, Jesus, and Christian faith. To create space where every voice can be heard, we need more leaders willing to walk alongside our preteens.
Our Gap Jr. leadership team is intentionally multigenerational, with leaders ranging from 16 to 60+. Each person brings something unique, and together we model the kind of faith community we hope our students experience. If you have a heart for the next generation and a willingness to listen, encourage, and show up, this is a meaningful way to be involved in what God is doing.
