Adopted By God

24Nov, 2021

A few months ago, our church worked through a sermon series in the Book of Galatians called, "Adopted And Free." At the end of the series, we released a podcast episode on our SDBC Podcast that explored the doctrine of adoption with Dr. Barton Priebe (Lead Pastor of Central Baptist Church in Victoria). We promised our listeners during that episode that we would let the church family know when Dr. Priebe's book is published so that they can dig deeper into the biblical doctrine of adoption. In his newly published book, Adopted by God: Discover the Life-Transforming Joy of a Neglected Truth, Dr. Priebe explores the value of gaining a rich understanding of the doctrine of adoption as laid out in Paul's letters (especially Galatians, Romans, and Ephesians). We live in a culture where people are constantly searching for an unshakeable identity upon which we can build our lives. Understanding the brilliant fact that we are adopted into God's family through Jesus Christ unlocks our ability to live with confidence knowing that our identity is secure in Christ. This will in turn help us experience deep peace, everlasting hope, immense joy, and unfathomable love. If you are interested in digging deeper into this life-transforming truth, I recommend you check out this great resource. For those of you who read this book, I pray that the Lord will use it to enrich your understanding of him and lead you to worship and give thanks for the abundant blessing of being adopted into God's family.
