Where is the time going? September is well underway and summer memories are beginning to fade as we move into fall and many return to school, sports, and other weekly routines.
At South Delta Baptist Church, we value community and we’re pleased to see such a positive response to our recent focus on community groups. As an elder board, we share a special form of community in addition to our individual community group connections. We hope you are taking the opportunity to get yourself plugged in and connected with a community as part of your weekly routine. Another great way to connect is by serving in the church. We are all gifted in one way or another and if you are willing to serve, there’s a place for you.
Over the summer, the elders and staff have continued working on a refreshed vision for SDBC, as well as forming the lead pastor search team. In each of these tasks, we are actively seeking God’s wisdom, direction, and timing. While our efforts on vision refreshment continue, we’re pleased to announce that Craig Kraft has consented to join Peter Grierson and Gerald Neufeld on the lead pastor search team. We are blessed to have Craig join us and are already enjoying his skill, knowledge, and perspective on the process. We are continuing to seek out other members to provide representation from across our congregation as well as the unique skill sets needed for this important team. Our plan, God willing, is to complete the selection of the team in the next few weeks, then allow the search team to build its plan and approach to the search process for review and approval of the elders. At the November business meeting, we’ll share an update from the team and expect their efforts to begin in earnest in the new year.
As mentioned, we’re seeking God’s leading in this process we have begun, and each of you can contribute by praying regularly for the elders, search team, and ultimately, our next lead pastor. We’ll continue to provide updates and we welcome your input to .
