Gap Jr. is a ministry for preteens (grades 5-7) that we run every Tuesday night at 7PM. Our mission is to join God in sharing his love with these students and helping them learn what life with him looks like. One of the unique things about this ministry is that as many as half of the preteens that attend weekly have no church background. Yet since we launched Gap Jr. this year, we've been blessed to witness God stirring something up in their hearts. They are asking deep questions and wanting to know more about Jesus and the life he gives. Needless to say, God is moving in incredible ways, and we want YOU to be a part of it! Let me tell you about a very practical way you could get involved.
In just a few weeks, we will have a unique opportunity to introduce Jesus to a large group of new preteens. On February 28th, we have invited all the students to bring at least one friend from school to Gap Jr. (and they'll win a Slurpee if they do)! Also on that night, we will be launching the Alpha Youth program. Alpha Youth is a video series for young people that introduces them to the Christian faith, and it's all about creating a space for people who know very little about Jesus to ask big questions. Lately, our numbers have been as high as 40 preteens per week. If every one of those preteens brings at least one friend for Alpha, that means we'll have 80+ preteens with us, many of whom will be learning about Jesus for the very first time!
To run this program well, we need more people who are willing to join our multigenerational leadership team. We have leaders whose ages range from 16 up to 65+ and every person brings something different to the team. We believe there are more of you out there who have a heart for the next generation experiencing the love of Jesus and have something unique to bring to the team because of your age and personality. This is the perfect opportunity for you to get on board and participate in the incredible work God is doing in these preteens!
