Lent: Call to Action 5

21Mar, 2024

Last Sunday, we reflected on our spiritual brokenness; the fact that we live in a sin-marred world and that our sins hinder us from enjoying the perfect presence of our God. We look to the gospel of Jesus to remind us that his death and resurrection redeemed us, and that we are made whole again in Christ. As we draw nearer to the Easter weekend, let us contemplate on our sinfulness and give praise to God for his gift of salvation.

This week, we are asking you to consider participating in our Lent Call-to-Action by giving up complaining in our speech and thoughts, and cultivating a heart of gratitude instead. We can enter into the Easter weekend with a posture of worship rather than a heart of complaining that diminishes joy and eats away at our soul. Please recite the following verses in Scripture to help orient our hearts toward gratitude:

  • Psalm 103:1-22
  • Philippians 4:11-13
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
  • Psalm 107:1-3
  • Lamentations 3:22-24
  • Philippians 4:6-7
  • Colossians 3:16-17
