Amazing SDBC God Stories

19Sep, 2019

Stories are powerful. They have the ability to not only convey information but also to inspire us to action. Stories also help us shape the legacy we leave for the next generation. As we celebrate our 60th anniversary at SDBC, we want to share our stories. Our stories are not really ours; they're God's stories of how He has worked among us in the past sixty years. Just as Israel passed on stories of God's wondrous works from generation to generation, we have the responsibility to tell God's stories and leave a legacy of faith, hope, and love.

We need your help in gathering stories for our 60th anniversary celebrations. Our goal is to share stories that highlight what God has done in our midst in the last sixty years. If you have been the recipient of God's ministry through our church, please share your story with us. This could be a story of how you came to know Jesus through a ministry of SDBC or how someone from our church invited you to church for the first time. It could be a story of how God comforted you in times of grief and mourning through compassionate people of our church. It could even be how God has blessed you and encouraged you in your walk of faith through a certain ministry of our church. Whatever God has done in your life through SDBC, we would love to hear about it.

Our hope is to gather many stories and create a collage of God Stories to display at our 60th anniversary banquet. These stories will be shared anonymously and will focus on displaying God's work through us. If you are unsure about sharing your story, please know that your story can be used to encourage others and move our church to praise God and be filled with thanksgiving. Stories are powerful, and God stories are the most powerful stories.

You can submit your stories through email or by dropping off a paper copy of your story at the church office during office hours or at the Connect Desk on Sunday. We ask you to write your story down in a couple sentences (one paragraph maximum) and submit it by October 6th. Although these stories will be shared anonymously, please write down your name and contact information when you submit your stories so that we could follow up with you and ask clarifying questions if we need to. We look forward to hearing your stories!
