Starfish Pack: Continuing to Serve

22Apr, 2020

You may be wondering, or have people asking you, "What is Starfish Pack South Delta doing at this time?" Since schools are not in session and distancing regulations are in place, our team had to get creative. We knew that the needs we were meeting were not going to go away at this time, and, if anything, they would be increasing.

I am pleased to let you know that we are continuing the Starfish Pack program. We made some significant changes to how the program is run and carried out, allowing us to continue to meet the needs of more than 20 families in South Delta.

Every week, a community partner helps us pick up our order from Save-On Foods and delivers it to our packing location. Two of our volunteers have taken this new adventure on and are doing all of the packing out of their own garage. They are wearing gloves and packing the food into plastic bags which will only be used once. From there, they deliver the bags to the schools and the school administration arranges the pick up with the families.

Until further notice, this is how Starfish Pack will continue to run. We are so thankful for our volunteers and the support of our community. This program has provided us yet another way to be the hands and feet of Jesus during this pandemic.
