We are thrilled to have Stefan Semke as our Youth Intern. Stefan grew up in SDBC, spending time in Gap Jr. and Gap as a youth, and it is so cool to see him now pouring his heart and energy into serving our youth ministry and growing as a next-gen leader. To help you get to know Stefan, we asked him a few questions:
Why did you want to work with SDBC Youth?
I wanted to put myself in a place where I would be stretched in my faith and be able to grow as a Christian.
What are you most excited about working with SDBC Youth this summer?
I want to learn how to work with and inspire youth to be good people who can continue to spread good through the world even after we part ways.
How are you hoping to grow this summer?
I am hoping to expand my knowledge in the bible and God's teachings so I can be a representation of what Christianity is supposed to be to the secular world.
What are some of your favourite ways to spend your free time?
I most enjoy experiencing the world with friends in any way as long as it's with them.
What is your favourite food?
Grilled cheese. I got so lucky with the food truck at the carnival a couple weeks ago.
What would you like the church to pray for during this time you are working with us?
That I would be able to build meaningful relationships with people and with God.
Stefan will be on staff with us until the end of August. We hope you'll take the opportunity to say hello to him on Sunday and get to know more about him. We are excited for how God will work through him this summer to bless our youth ministry, particularly as he uses his skillset toward revamping some of our youth ministry spaces and building relationships with youth and preteens. Please pray for Stefan and our SDBC Youth team as we launch our summer programming.
