Fellowship and Connections with SDBC Kids

23Jun, 2022

Can you believe summer is almost here? Growing up, summer at my house meant road trips, camping, backyard games and BBQs, beach days, hours with friends and family, and, of course, summer events at SDBC. Now that I'm older, it's pretty much the same thing, only now I get the privilege of planning an awesome summer full of family events here at SDBC!

As a Kids team, we have been working through how to create a fun and meaningful summer of connections for the families and kids at SDBC. Through our brainstorming and planning, we've had a few verses come up as guiding themes for our summer goals. One of them, Matthew 18:20, says, "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them." This summer, we want to help families build connections and become a network of families who are committed to growing together in Christ. That is why this summer is going to be one of fellowship and connections! We have an event being offered every week to promote fellowship between kids, parents, and God. The early church survived and thrived because they were committed to fellowship with Christ and each other, and now it's our turn to model that fellowship to those around us.

We're offering three day-camp style events (Kids on the Case, Baking Camp, and Science Camp) where you can drop off your kids and they will do fun activities and learn about God while they make new friends and new connections, as well as six stand-alone events to come to with your family where you will do activities that are fun for the whole family!

Registration is now open for our day-camp events. More information and registration links can be found in the events section of our website. For the rest of our events, just show up and hang out with our Kids team and your fellow SDBC families!

If you're looking for something to do this summer, or somewhere to serve, we're looking for volunteers to help at any of our events, especially Kids on the Case (July 18th-21st). If this is something you're interested in, you can email me directly.

Our first event is this Saturday, June 25th, and we're kicking things off with a carnival! Come and hang out at the church from 11AM-2PM. We will have games and activities, a giant inflatable slide, and a cake walk to satisfy your sweet tooth. Lunch will be available for purchase. We can't wait to see you there!
