Rick Burdett - Interim Lead Pastor

Rick came to SDBC in November 2010 from Gilbert, Arizona. He is serving as interim lead pastor. He has an MA in Counselling from Phoenix Seminary. Rick has been married to his wife, Chris, for 40 years. Their four children, Tim, Andrea, Lynn, and Kendra are all adults and have provided Rick and Chris with seven grandchildren. He loves to teach, lead, and participate in community groups and is trained and certified in Mediation practice and in CISM. He loves to meet people and learn their stories. He will go fishing with little or no notice.
Jordan Scott - Associate Pastor

Jordan has attended South Delta since he was in junior high. After interning with the Junior High program, he felt called to be in ministry. He has spent many years working in youth ministries before moving into an associate pastor position.
Doug Harris - Traditional Worship Leader

Doug has been involved with SDBC for over thirty years. He is currently serving as Traditional Service Worship Leader. Over the past 57 years, he has served as Pastor, Missions Director, College President, and in extensive para-church ministries. He and Mary have been married for over 60 years and are grateful for six children (and spouses), thirteen grandchildren (and spouses), and six great-grandchildren. They have served together over the years in an extensive music ministry. Their testimony is summarized in Ephesians 3:20, 21:
“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
Mary Uher - Modern Worship Intern

Mary started working at SDBC in April of 2016, and is currently working as the modern service worship leader. She lives with her wonderful family and is currently studying music and psychology at Trinity Western University. Mary absolutely loves leading people into God's presence through musical worship and feels so blessed to be a part of the SDBC family. To Jesus be all glory and praise!
Paul Park - Associate Pastor

Paul joined South Delta Baptist Church in October 2013. Before coming to SDBC, he was a secondary school English teacher and helped proclaim the gospel in the Tsawwassen First Nation community. Growing up in a diverse cultural setting helped him learn how to communicate with people from other cultures. Paul hopes to utilize all that he has learned to reach many people with the love of Christ.
Katie Yakiwchuk - Director of Children’s Ministry

Katie has a passion for teaching children about God. She has been a part of the SDBC community since 1994 and has been involved in almost every aspect of Children’s Ministry. Her desire is to love this community and share her faith through teaching, supporting, and loving families. She is married to Dave and, together, they have three children: Luke, Adam, and Natalie.
Megan Johnson - Children's Ministry Assistant

Megan has attended SDBC since her youth and served in youth ministry for almost ten years.
In 2007, Megan graduated from Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Special Education Teacher Assistant program.
In addition to being on staff at SDBC, she is working as an Education Assistant at Richmond Christian School, where she has been working for the past six years. Megan has a passion for working with children of all ages and is a great addition to our team.
Kaitlyn Shipowich - Children's Ministry Summer Intern

Kaitlyn Shipowich started working at SDBC in May 2016 as the Children’s Ministry Summer Intern. She is working with the Children’s Ministry staff to organize Sunday morning programs, as well as Kids Camp. Kaitlyn is looking forward to getting to know the families of SDBC. In the fall, she will be continuing her studies in French, Spanish, and Education at Trinity Western University with the hopes of becoming a secondary school teacher. She lives in Tsawwassen with her two sisters and loving parents.

Taya is in grade twelve and she has recently joined the SDBC youth ministries team as a GAP Jr. intern. Growing up, she attended SDBC and has gone through the different stages of youth groups and now she wants to experience it in a new light. Taya has served in many different areas around the church including AWANA, VBS, and GAP Jr. She has two caring parents Sean and Lisa Bremner, and two sisters, Shanay and Cassidy.
James Cox - GAP Summer Intern

James is currently studying at Kwantlen Polytechnic University and working as the GAP Summer intern. He has been a part of SDBC and GAP since childhood. James is hoping to give back to the group that he has spent so much time with, and provide a fun and meaningful experience for the youth. He has served in many areas at SDBC such as VBS, AWANA, Sunday School, and as a custodian. James is the youngest child of two loving parents Phil and Audrey Cox and the brother of Sarah, Andrew, and Maggie.

Talon is aspiring to go into the ministry field. Talon is the GAP Jr. intern for the summer. He has gone through the pre-teen and youth programs at SDBC. Now, Talon wants to experience Youth Ministry from a new perspective. He has amazing parents—Chuck and Delrene—an awesome brother; Morgan, and an awesome sister; Alice.
Darlene Baltzer - Kitchen Services Co-ordinator

Darlene has been a member of SDBC for 37 years. She has a huge heart and passion for ministering through hospitality, specifically to grieving families. For many years, Darlene has served with the kitchen team, senior scene, and funeral ministries. Darlene is also passionate about her sons, grandsons and great grandsons.
Sue Gibson - Facility Co-ordinator/Assistant to Pastor Rick

Sue joined the team at SDBC in August of 2001 and is now serving as Pastor Rick’s assistant. Sue and her husband Rob both started attending the church in their childhood years. The couple have 3 adult children, 2 of which are married, and 5 grandchildren. Sue has attended and served South Delta since she was 11 years old.
Lynda Nemeth - Assistant to Worship Arts

For almost 23 years Lynda has been privileged to serve in the South Delta Baptist Church Office and be part of this church family for over 33 years. The experience of being surrounded with people in a caring environment has proven to be of significant value to her. She's been blessed with two sons, Sean and Darren and one daughter, Sharon and husband, Simon, three grandchildren, Alexa, Ella and Mia. Her passion is to serve in assisting the Sunday Worship Services and it has been very rewarding.
Kim Griffin - Reception / Administrative Assistant

Kim has been attending SDBC since 1997. She has been involved in leadership positions with Children’s Ministries, Youth, Young Adults and the Stephen Ministry. Kim graduated from the University Of Waterloo and also obtained her teaching certificate from UBC. She taught at an alternate school in Vancouver for a number of years. She lives in Tsawwassen with her husband, Brian Griffin. Together they have three grown children.
Richard Staples - Audio/Visual Technician
Richard has been attending South Delta Baptist Church since 1998. Richard had always wanted to find his place to serve in the church and at the beginning of the summer in 2015, he felt his calling from God when the tech team asked for help. When Richard is not behind the sound board worshipping God through his favourite means of music, he loves photography and fixing and working on computers.
Connor Gilkinson - Video Media Developer
Connor graduated from Vancouver Community College with his diploma in Jazz and Contemporary Guitar Studies and is currently pursuing his degree in Music. He's very passionate about art and creativity, always trying to expand his knowledge and abilities in music, film and design.
Sean and Lisa Bremner - Family Event Coordinators

Sean and Lisa are overseeing family ministries here at SDBC. “We believe it is important to feel connected and feel a sense of belonging to your church body. Everything good in life takes effort and our prayer is that we can all make time to connect with each other to become a community of believers that are supported, loved, serving and growing in our love for Jesus.” Sean and Lisa have three girls, Cassidy, Taya and Shanay and have lived in Ladner for the past 14 years. They are very active at SDBC as well as coaching, playing or watching sports in the community. Sean has a renovations company and Lisa works at a seniors’ residence in the recreation department.
Dawna-Lyn Broadhead - Director of First Steps Preschool

Dawna-Lyn has been part of the SDBC community since 1995. Dawna-Lyn and John have two married daughters, Brittney and Julia. She has since been director and teacher of First Steps Preschool for 16 years now. Dawna-Lyn also makes herself available to meet with people to guide and lead them through life's issues. Kathleen Beaton - Clinical Counsellor
Kathleen Beaton is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and founder of Cedar Park Counselling in South Delta, B.C. She holds a Masters degree in Counselling from ACTS seminary at Trinity Western University. She has over ten years experience in counselling individuals, youth, and couples at both Cedar Park and Peace Portal Counselling Centers. She has been a resident of South Delta for twenty years, married for thirty years and has two grown daughters. Her counselling work involves the use of emotionally focused and experiential therapies. She brings to her work an enjoyment of people and a desire to help others reach their potential in life, deal with life problems and develop greater relational intimacy and life satisfaction.

Morgan van Vliet - Clinical Counsellor
Morgan van Vliet is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#11136) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC) and holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology as well as a Masters degree in Counselling. She is passionate about helping people live a fulfilling life and to see those hurting overcome their struggles and be healed from their pain. Before starting her own practice, Morgan van Vliet Counselling, Morgan worked as the Director of Counselling at a Christian residential centre that helped young women struggling with eating disorders, drug and alcohol addiction, physical and sexual abuse, and self-harm. Morgan has specialized training in Enhanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT-E) for eating disorders, which is the leading evidence-based therapy across the full range of eating disorders/eating problems. Morgan also specializes in offering Christian counselling for those experiencing a variety of concerns and difficulties. Prior to being a Registered Clinical Counsellor, Morgan worked in ministry and enjoys integrating faith into the process of healing and change.

Without Harry our church would fall apart. His dedication to our building is encouraging to see as he works hard in keeping up maintenance as well as leading a team of other custodians. He has been a part of the church family for many years with his wife Tammy and their children, Ashley, Josh, Nathan, and Luke.
