WHY SDBC KIDS?

04Oct, 2016

SDBC Kids is an important ministry. That is an understatement. SDBC Kids is the future of South Delta Baptist Church—and that is not an overstatement at all. One of the duties we have as Christians is to leave a legacy of faith in our future generations. What imprint are we going to leave in Tsawwassen, Ladner, and in the lower mainland? Is it not our hope and desire that we would leave behind a generation that knows, fears, and loves God? We want our next generation to love Christ and love our community the way Christ exemplified for us. This is what we are called to do as a church, and this is why SDBC Kids is the future of our church.

If we want to achieve this goal of raising a generation of Christ followers, we must invest in the next generation. This is what Paul did with Timothy in the bible. Paul invested in the next generation. We cannot leave this very important task to just staff or a group of volunteers. It is our duty—as the entire church—to pray for our children and their parents, and walk alongside them so that these families become evangelists and witnesses in our city. We need to invest in our families and support them in teaching the next generation about Jesus. Because our church is currently without a director of SDBC Kids, you have an opportunity to invest in this ministry more directly. We are inviting our lay people to take on significant roles in the leadership of SDBC Kids. We have assembled the SDBC Kids committee—the equivalent of the Avengers of children’s ministry—which will help lead SDBC Kids. This committee is comprised of many lay people in our church that have a strong passion for the next generation in our city. In what way are you investing in the next generation? If you feel led to be more involved in investing in the next generation, I invite you to serve alongside us at SDBC Kids, and invest in the future together.

Paul joined South Delta Baptist Church in 2013 and has fallen in love with the church since then. He transitioned into the lead pastor role in late 2017, and has been blessed to serve Jesus and the community of South Delta alongside SDBC. He has a strong passion for preaching God’s word and living a missional life empowered by the love of Christ and the Holy Spirit. Outside of ministry, Paul enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife Sarah, and their children Nathan and Christianne.
