Trinitarian Love

11Jan, 2018

Trinity is a very difficult concept to explain by our logical understanding, but at the same time, it is also the core value of Christianity that we cannot ignore. Why is Trinity so important to us? How does our understanding of the triune God help us in our faith? Perhaps we think that knowing God as the Trinity is one thing, and our actual faith life is another, but how well we understand God, the Trinity, can make a big difference in our faith lives.

God reveals himself in the bible as God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—God who is three-in-one. The most important thing that we must know is that before the creation of the world, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit loved one another with all their hearts, and the perfect God has invited us to their perfect love. When we understand the meaning of the Trinity, we can see how great, beautiful, and perfect is the love we have received. There is a hymn called, “A mind at perfect peace with God."

So near, so very near to God,
I cannot nearer be,
Yet in the person of His Son,
I am as near as He.

So dear, so very dear to God,
more dear I cannot be,
The love wherewith He loves the Son,
such is His love to me!

There is no need to seek God's greater love. We already have the greatest love of God. Through the understanding of Trinity, I hope you understand God's love and enjoy his love better. I also hope we can live in pursuit of God as one who lives in love.

Each of us has come from a different culture and walk of life. Even though we speak different languages and have different appearances, we can be in a loving relationship that is reflective of the Trinitarian love. By the love of God, all who believe in Jesus are completely united in love. SDBC already has that love and has shown what loving like Jesus looks like.

We started a Korean community group at SDBC. I believe that this ministry will eventually grow into our church having multicultural groups that is representative of our society.

In 2018, I pray that the love of God, the grace of Jesus, and communion with the Holy Spirit will be more abundant in SDBC through unity and love.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
