Pastoral Search Team Update #6

06Mar, 2017

Once again, we thank you for your prayers and encouragement. The PST has been working through a four-stage process. The first stage was PREPARATION and focused on the development of a prayer movement in the church, the selection and preparation of a pastoral search team, and the identification of SDBC’s values, purpose, and vision.

We then moved to the DOCUMENTATION stage. In this stage, we generated a pastoral search package. This document pulls together information about our church and our community as an introduction to who we are and why someone should consider pastoral ministry in South Delta. Our work has now been passed off to the church staff for final editing, branding, and the addition of some photos. Simultaneously, the elders’ board has been working on the final draft of the lead pastor position description. Our goal is to have these final documents posted to our website and distributed widely to attract applications by March 15.

We are now set for the EXPLORATION stage. This is where the rubber hits the road and we begin receiving and sorting through applications and following up with potential candidates. This stage includes initiating the search, researching and interviewing candidates, tracking and reporting results, and moving toward a final candidate.

The final stage will be ENGAGEMENT, when the congregation will meet the candidate and reach an agreement for the pastor to begin ministry here.

Thank you for praying with us. If you have not picked up a search team prayer bookmark, we encourage you to pick one up at the Connect Desk on Sunday. Our next prayer time will be following the morning service on March 12th. All are invited to join us in the fellowship hall for about five minutes of concentrated prayer.

Please remember to Prepare for change, Pray for our search team, and Plan to be part of the process.
